Die Umzäunung des Geländes einer Kunstfakultät birgt unzählige suggestive Geschichten. So auch die Geschichte der riesigen Platane in der Mitte des Zauns, der das Gelände der Fakultät für Bildende Künste in Oradea von den Räumlichkeiten der Gendarmerie trennt. Die Institutionen beschlossen, den Baum zu fällen, um einen neuen Zaun zu errichten. Nach der Fällung des Baumes bat Zoltán Kovács, Dozent an der Fakultät für Bildende Künste, aufgrund seiner kreativen Intuition darum, mehrere Scheiben des Baumes abzuschneiden, um daraus einen Tisch und drei Stühle für Studenten und Lehrer anfertigen zu können.
Für uns ist die Geschichte des gefällten Baumes symbolisch, sie ist eine Metapher für die Art und Weise, wie wir mit kulturellen, institutionellen und menschlichen Grenzen umgehen. Dies ist keine neue Herausforderung. Sie ergänzt andere derartige Problematisierungen, wie das Fragment der antiken Skulptur Laokoon, das einen qualvollen Kampf darstellt, interpretiert und gemalt von Dávid Fazekas, einem ehemaligen Studenten des Fachbereichs Malerei während der Pandemie, auf demselben Zaun, der die beiden Institutionen trennt.

The fencing around the grounds of an art faculty harbours countless evocative stories. This is also the story of the huge plane tree in the centre of the fence separating the grounds of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Oradea from the gendarmerie’s premises. The institutions decided to cut down the tree in order to build a new fence. After the tree was felled, Zoltán Kovács, a lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts, used his creative intuition to ask for several slices of the tree to be cut off to make a table and three chairs for students and teachers.
For us, the story of the felled tree is symbolic, it is a metaphor for the way we deal with cultural, institutional and human boundaries. This is not a new challenge. It complements other such problematisations, such as the fragment of the ancient sculpture Laocoon depicting an agonising struggle, interpreted and painted by Dávid Fazekas, a former student of the Painting Department during the pandemic, on the same fence that separates the two institutions.

Incinta unui spațiu al unei Facultății de Arte înmagazinează nenumărate povești sugestive. Așa este și povestea platanului uriaș de pe mejdia gardului ce desparte aria în care este își desfășoară activitatea Departamentul de Arte Vizuale din Oradea și spațiile jandarmeriei. Instituțiile au decis ca copacul să fie tăiat pentru a se clădi un gard nou. După tăiera copacului, intuiția creativă a artistului Kovács Zoltán, cadru didactic al departamentului de arte, a făcut ca acesta să solicite o felie din acest copac pentru a se putea confecționa ulterior din ea o masă la care să se poată aduna,deopotrivă studenții și profesorii.
Povestea copacului tăiat pentru noi este una simbolică,este o metaforă ce vorbește despre despre modul în care ne preocupă gestionarea granițelor culturale, instituționale și umane. Această provocare nu este una nouă. Ea completeză alte problematizări de acest fel așa cum este și aceea a fragmentului extras din sculptura antică Laocoon, în care este ilustrată o luptă agonizantă, fragment interpretat și zugrăvit de Dávid Fazekas, un fost student de la specializarea pictură în perioada pandemiei, pe același gard ce separă cele două instituții.
